Regions
Alaska is separated into five regions; the Inside Passage, South Central, Interior, Far North and Southwest.
South Central Alaska supports over half of Alaska's population and is home to the major city of Anchorage. Anchorage, AK has fine dining, theaters, museums, and state parks. They also have over 122 miles of bike paths for summertime biking or hiking during the 24 hours of sunlight in summer. Dog sledding, ice skating and snowmobiling are fun activities for when winter rolls around. The Chugach Mountains area, one of the primary mountain ranges in Alaska, is another exciting and beautiful scenic area for a travel nurse to visit while on assignment.
The Inside Passage region of Alaska is located on the lower east side of the state. Here there is the Glacier Bay area, Northern Region and Southern Region are the sub regions of the Inside Passage. These sub regions are lush with forests, wildlife, and glaciers. The Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian Indians also call this area home.
The Interior Region has Mt. McKinley the continents tallest peak, the Southwest region is a perfect area for a nature loving enthusiast, and finally the Far North Region which is near the Article Circle which is accessible by small planes or jets.
