While you're falling in love with the sandy beaches of southern Alabama, you'll probably want to go dolphin spotting in Mobile Bay or tour the USS Alabama Battleship that is docked along Mobile's waterfront. Either way, Mobile should definitely be on your list of places to go in Alabama.
On the Trail
While the southern part of the state offers beautiful beachfront along the Gulf of Mexico, the northern part of the state is all about trails. And not just hiking trails, either. If you're into fishing, you'll love finding your perfect spot along the Alabama Bass Trail through millions of acres of pristine southern wilderness. Or, if you prefer golf, tour some of the best courses in the country along the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. And since winters are extremely mild this far south, you can hike, fish, or golf all year round.
The Rights Stuff
Alabama is the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement, and cities like Birmingham, Montgomery, and Selma are rife with historic sites for those who want to follow in the footsteps of Civil Rights leaders.
No matter what kind of activities you enjoy, you're bound to find plenty to love in Alabama.
